Important Notice to Batavia Township Residents

If the basic assessed value of your property was revised for 2008, this information will be published on September 11 in the Kane County Chronicle. You will also receive a notice in the mail with your 2008 assessed value. Please note that if your assessment changed only due to the equalization factor as computed by the Kane County Supervisor of Assessments, this information will not be published, nor will you receive a notice in the mail.

The notice in the newspaper will also include the amount of the equalization factor. We encourage you to go to the Batavia Township website (www.bataviatownship.com) to view the amount of your 2008 assessment. Taxpayers are given a 30 day period (from the date of publication) in which to appeal their assessment should they feel their assessment is incorrect as compared with other similar properties. The filing deadline is October 14 for the year 2008.

We encourage you to call this office or stop by to discuss your concerns prior to going through the formal appeal process. We will do everything possible to evaluate the accuracy of your assessment, and save you the stress of formally appealing your assessment at the county level.
